Rock Solid, Blue Chip Investments Sought

Bolton’s transfer plans this season are for ‘blue chip investments’ this summer when Dougie Freedman plots his moves into the transfer market.

Whatever blue chip investments are!

Players of similar quality to Jay Spearing; that could have a similar impact at the Reebok Stadium are being sought after. So that is what a ‘blue chip investment’ is then?

Due to players being under long-term contracts last summer and not always willing to move on Freedman found it hard to bring in players that he wanted due to funds, and despite being under pressure to again trim the wage bill he already has players in mind and feels he can get them.

The Bolton boss told the Bolton News: ‘We found last year that we just couldn’t trade.

‘The reason for that was there were just so many players under big contracts. In all honesty, they could have moved on, but they chose not to.

‘We made some solid signings, though. Jay Spearing is fantastic business, rock solid, blue chip investment for this football club and I don’t think we did enough of them.’

Bringing players in, that will be the long-term future of this club, is Freedman’s aim but the club won’t be dishing out lavish contracts, which Freedman has been so critical of previously.

The ‘top transfer target’ is thought to be Lukas Jutkiewicz, currently on loan from Middlesbrough with him one of ‘three or four’ players already earmarked.

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.
