Bolton Wanderers Supporters Trust released a statement this afternoon asking a range of questions concerning Sports Shield’s pending takeover of the club, and have also called on all parties to ensure the club is not wound up on Monday.

The Bolton News have reported that there are still some issues that the Football League wish to be adressed before they sign off any takeover, namely Eddie Davies’ demands for a cut of future television payments.

The Trust have also said they want the ‘club heritage and football ethos’ to be central to the future of the club, and have identfied four areas; responsibe financial management, safeguarding critical assets, club management and decision making, plus commeunity interests and sustainability.

Among the details the Trust wants, is the identity of the corporate backers and individuals, who Dean Holdsworth has so far insisted will remain disclosed, as well as asking about their motives, and how they plan to financially back the club in time.

The full set of questions can be read in the statement on the Trust’s website

This comes after Monday’s announcement that the Trust has started to take subscription fees to convert pledges into memberships. Memberships are available at £10 per year through Direct Debit.

I do welcome the Trust’s intervention here. These are questions that have already been raised on social media for some time but the Trust’s statement is a good way to put it above all the noise and hopefully, the interested parties will have to listen.
