It`s a galling time for football fans. For a start off there`s no football (roll on the Euros). Then there are the rumours, 95% of which are a mixture of guess work and lies. It`s possible to ignore most of them, but every now and then there`s one which is so ridiculous that there is no choice but to mock. So it is with the idea, mooted in the Daily Star, that Bolton are to bid £5 million pounds for Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
A cursory bit of research would have revealed that Ali Al Habsi will be a more than suitable replacement for Jussi Jaaskelainen, should the Finn choose to leave. Al Habsi still has a year left on his contract. Then there`s Adam Bogdan, an outstanding prospect who was signed before the start of last season. A contract offer has also been made to the elderly Ian Walker. Bolton have more goalkeepers than you could wave a corner post at. What they definitely won`t be doing is paying over the odds for some fat bloke who`s not much good. Come on Daily Star, we know that you`re not a proper newspaper, but even you can do better than that.
