Thin Ice

How many times will we get away with it?

This isn’t really meant to be news, or analysis. It’s more a case of thinking out loud and putting it into an article.

Today was meant to be a D-Day. Turns out it wasn’t.

When I was sat in the courtroom a fortnight ago, the adjournment was granted because Registrar Jones, who was presiding that day, was content that over those two weeks, Sports Shield would be given the all-clear and HMRC would have the money they are rightly owed. If that hadn’t happened, it would seemingly mean liquidation.

Two weeks passed, no (full) approval was forthcoming, and today, I feared it was the brown stuff or bust.

But somehow, we ended up with another adjournment. We have two weeks to sort it all out and pay the money. But two weeks ago, we had two weeks to sort it all out and pay the money.

Surely we’re on thin ice, and surely this has to be sorted out by 21st March.

Eddie Davies’ legacy continues to disintegrate with every passing week. The way he’s handling this feels like someone trying to drown someone then pulling their head out just before they stop breathing.

There were some shouts of ‘Eddie Davies, you’re a (six letter word, often used to describe referees.) on Saturday. I’ve been to most games this season but this was the first time I’ve heard flak fly in his direction.

Will it all be sorted out in two weeks? I really can’t say I’m confident? Am I the only one to think that?
