Bolton have brought in veteran midfielder Andy Hughes as a summer signing, but he is also going to be coaching the U21 and academy sides.

At 36 the vastly experienced former Oldham Athletic, Reading, Norwich City, Notts County, Scunthorpe United and Leeds United midfielder, released by Charlton Athletic this summer, has plenty that he can pass onto younger player.

With that in mid his coaching for the U21 and academy sides as a ‘professional development coach’ should be a good move for Wanderers.

Only Dougie Freedman could tell you just how much of an impact as a player, with him making only eight-appearances for Charlton last season, he will have with Wanderers this season but with him very much in the twilight of his career I’d expect him to be hungry to play as much as possible?

Another veteran, but a couple of years Hughes’ senior but on a considerable amount more money, is finally poised to make his Bolton exit it seems!

Keith Andrews has been ‘on his way out’ for the past 12-months or now and having been confirmed as ‘free to leave’ the 34-year-old should complete an exit today!

Watford are believed to be close to completing a season-long loan deal as he sees out the final year of his contract with the club, probably picking up a healthy share of the tab….

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
