We Did Alright

It’s hard enough as it is to write about a game that you have not watched, it’s even harder if you are trying to do this about a game that you have not followed in the slightest!

That difficulty increases tenfold when it’s not even your team you are trying to do this about….

Mr Ecky is unfortunately not feeling too good, but to offer a helping hand I am going to be looking to tick this site over with a musings or two of my own on a few topics here and there until he gaffer returns!

Please do bare with me, I am not going to claim to know too much of what I am talking about but want to try and do something to help him out.

Speaking of gaffers, what I can do is report back what Dougie Freedman had to say following Bolton’s 1-0 defeat against Huddersfield at the Reebok last night….

Freedman thought that Bolton did more than enough to deserve something from the game?

As I say, if they did or not I cannot hand on heart say but reports suggest that Huddersfield’s Smithies was forced into a few good saves on the night but Bolton’s goalie, and the frame of the goal, also had to keep the Terriers at bay as well to be fair it would seem!

Defeat makes it back-to-back losses but Freedman isn’t going to dwell on this, the games come thick and fast so there isn’t time for this as much as anything, he said: ‘I thought we did alright. In another game you get two or three goals and away you go, it’s comfortable.

‘I’m probably more disappointed for the players because they gave themselves a good opportunity with the last seven or eight games to really kick on.

‘We’ve got to pick ourselves up come Saturday; the good thing about the Championship is it does come thick and fast and we’ve got to take our frustrations out on Doncaster on Saturday.’

Oliver Norwood’s winner, described as “a sensational strike” when he lashed home from 30-yards proved the difference between the sides with this defeat seeing the Trotters drop back to 18th place in the table, whereas the visitors are riding high just outside of the play-offs in terms of points and positions….

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
