It has been a story that went on and on through deadline day, but Zach Clough’s sale to Nottingham Forest has been confirmed.

An academy product who scored against Wigan on his debut in the FA Cup, he quickly established himself as a regular over the first 18 months, then this season had started the majority of games. He had scored 22 goals in 64 games.

I’m sure the transfer fee will be out there for everyone to see. Ah scrap that, it’s undisclosed. It’s a real dent in our transfer window activity

With our financial situation still not great, do we have to look at this as a necessity? The club had said it would take a big fee for the likes of Clough or Josh Vela to be sold, but that didn’t seem to be the case.

It’s sad to see him go though, there are some great goals to remember. Even his parting gift, the free kick against Charlton, was a beauty
