Freedman: An Excellent Three Points

The championship season has moved another game closer to a conclusion with Bolton involved in a midweek encounter.

Bolton went to the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday night looking to build on the run that they had got going when they took on Doncaster Rovers, and they did winning 2-1.

Another win was one that Dougie Freedman believes was much deserved, he praised Doncaster for ‘battling away’ but thought that the start made was all important and helped secure the win.

The Bolton boss told the media: ‘It was an excellent three points and I thought we deserved it with the way we imposed ourselves on the game at the start.

‘You have to give credit to them for the way they came back at us and we had to make one or two changes to combat that.

‘It was all about the first 15 minutes for me because we dominated possession. I want us to control games but it’s not always possible when the other side have a say.

‘Fair play to Doncaster, they are battling away and have got an attitude that they are not going to lie down.

Bolton were off to a flyer with Neil Danns and Joe Mason putting them two-up within 15-minutes, a blistering opening 17-minutes or so then saw Doncaster pull one back through David Cotterill’s 30-yard free-kick but the early goals were enough to secure the points.

The season is ending strongly; Freedman is just disappointed by the start to the season that has left Bolton playing catch-up.

He added: ‘We’ve always felt we were looking upwards rather than down and it’s a pity the first 12 games never gave us a chance to be more prominent but we’ve done well more recently to get where we are.’

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.
