Newcastle United jailbird Joey Barton has been cleared of vandalising a taxi after a night out in Liverpool. He was accused of smashing the radio in the taxi but was acquitted after it was shown that fingerprint evidence did not come from him. His cousin Joshua Wilson admitted causing the damage.

Barton was jailed at the start of May after being found guilty of assault and affray. The midfielder was signed by Agent Allardyce, formerly of Bolton Wanderers for £5.8 million, which included a £300,000 loyalty bonus to Widnes`s most prolific scally. Instalment three of Joey Barton versus the judicial system will take place when the less than loveable rogue stands trial for an alleged attack on former team mate Ousmane Dabo.
